Exercises

The teaching assistant for the course is Paul Trygsland. He will supervise the problem sessions and the collection and grading of the exercises. Feel free to email him here with any questions, comments, or concerns regarding these matters.

All exercises will be submitted through the øvingssystemet. If you are not in the system, send an email to Paul Trygsland with your NTNU username.

All students are required to pass 8 out the 12 exercises in order to take the final exam. You can see how many exercises you have passed here.

The deadline for the exercises will always be on Sundays at 23:59. This is now changed to every Tuesday at 23:59.

Important

  • The problem sessions will be available in both S8 and R2 starting in week 38 (Monday 18. Sep.).
  • Problem sessions start in week 35, but R2 will not be available until week 36. The Problem sessions in week 35 will take place in S8!

FAQ

Is the book required to do the exercises?

No. A PDF of each exercise will be posted in øvingssystemet.

How to hand in exercises?

Exercises must be submitted as PDF in øvingssystemet. Click on TMA4110 Matematikk 3 2017H and choose Aktive øvinger.

We recommend doing exercises with pen and paper.

Attention: Make sure to write clearly, e.g. with pen and white paper.

How to hand in a written exercise as a PDF:

Scanner/printer:
  1. Use pen and paper to do the exercise!
  2. Find a scanner/printer, scan every page and receive an email with the PDF.
  3. Download the PDF on a PC/MAC.
  4. Make sure the pages in the final document are in the correct order.
  5. Log into Ovsys and upload the PDF-file.
iPhone (PC/MAC required):
  1. Use pen and paper to do the exercise!
  2. Download an app for "scanning", e.g. Genius Scan, Tiny Scanner.
  3. Use the app to scan and export PDF to email.
  4. Download the PDF on a PC/MAC.
  5. Make sure the pages in the final document are in the correct order.
  6. Log into Ovsys and upload the PDF-file.
Android:
  1. Use pen and paper to do the exercise!
  2. Download an app for "scanning", e.g. CamScanner, Tiny Scanner.
  3. Use the app to scan and export PDF to Drive or any folder of choice.
  4. Make sure the pages in the final document are in the correct order.
  5. Log into Ovsys and upload the PDF file.

I can not find TMA4110 Matematikk 3 in Ovsys, what to do?

Send an email to Paul with your NTNU username and issue.

Attention: It is possible to be in Ovsys and not registered for the exam. Check studentweb.

How many exercises are required?

You are responsible for submitting and checking that at least 8 out of 12 exercises are approved before the final exam.

When are the exercises to be submitted?

Every Sunday at 23.59 starting in week 35.

I have already passed the required amount of exercises, should I still submit exercises?

No. You do not have to submit any exercises. To check this either go to studentweb or email someone with access to FS (Felles Studentsystem).
