Uncertainty in Reservoir Evaluation (URE)
URE history
- Initiation: 1994.
- Vision:
- Provide creative mathematically based solutions to recognized challenges in reservoir evaluation.
- Develop methodologies for analysis of spatial and spatio-temporal phenomena.
- Status: The URE-initiative is worldwide unique as a theoretical probabilitic/statistical research group focusing on hydrocarbon reservoir modelling.
- Cooperation between:
- various industrial partner companies - total of ten companies involved.
- Funding:
- kNOK approx 30000.
- The Research Council of Norway (approx 60%) and partner companies (approx 40%).
- Deliveries:
- PhD candidates: approx 25.
- Msc candidates with mathematical background: ≥ 35.
- Scientific journal publications: ≥ 70.
- Invited conference presentations: ≥ 30.
- Conference/workshop committees: ≥ 25.
- Recent recognitions - IMF/NTNU:
- 2012: The Research Council of Norway/Evaluation of Research in Matematical Sciences in Norway: Group for computational and spatial statistics, IMF/NTNU - housing the URE activity - characterized as "world class"/classification: Grade 5 - Excellent.
- 2011: Henning Omre awarded 2011 Alfred Wegener Award from EAGE for outstanding contributions in geostatistics for reservoir applications.
- 2011: Jo Eidsvik received 2010 Best paper award in Mathematical Geosciences (Mathematical Geosciences (2011), 43, 1011-1012).
