Statistical software

The main computer package used in the course will be R. This package will be used both for demonstrations in the lectures and for exercises og projects.

R is available for free download at The Comprehensive R Archive Network (Windows, Linux and Mac).

It is recommended that you install Rstudio which is an integrated development environment (system where you have you script, your run-window, overview of objects and a plotting window).

If you are not already familiar with R, a nice introduction is given in a free online R course. A nice written introduction to R can be found in P. Dalgaard (2009). Introductory Statistics with R, 2nd edition (which is available as an ebook from the NTNU library when you are in the NTNU network). Several R manuals can be found at CRAN. At youtube there are also several videos that introduces R and specific topics in R.
