Exercises

Monday 14.15 - 15.00 in R10. First time January 16.

Software

There will be support for the use of both MINITAB and R in the exercises. There is a Campus lisence for MINITAB which makes it free for students to use. R is free software. Unfortunately the last version of MINITAB is not available for MAC-users. Mac-users can use the the Windows-version of MINITAB on their own MAC by installing the program "Microsoft Remote Desktop" and use this program to connect to farm.ntnu.no. A user guide can be found here: https://i.ntnu.no/wiki/-/wiki/Norsk/programfarm+med+MAC

You will not be asked to use software for calculations on the exam. But output from software will be given (both MINITAB and R), so be sure you have the full overview and can extract information from any output relevant for the course.

Compulsory Project

The course has one compulsory project. Here the students shall plan, perform, analyse and report a self selected experiment, or do another statistical analysis that needs to be approved by the lecturer of the course or the exercise teacher. A description of the task and some examples of problems, that have been examined by former students, can be found on the web page https://wiki.math.ntnu.no/tma4255/2016v/project. The project is to be handed in in Blackboard. The deadline is April 14.
Examples on such projects can be found here and here.
