Exercises

- Not compulsory and should not be handed in.
- You are assumed to have done the exercises before starting on the projects. Similar problems can be given on the exam.
- Some hints/partial solutions will be posted afterwards depending on the capacity of the course team.
Exercises | Hints/Partial solutions | Remarks |
---|---|---|
Exercise 1 | Exercise 1 sol | (corrected version, h instead of h_0 in Exercise 2a) |
Exercise 2 | Auxiliary Jupyter Notebook: Exercise 2 nb. If download problems occur, see the link on the forum, download making your own copy and proceed. The pdf file and the jupyter notebook have been updated with some hint/solution for the error plotting. | |
Exercise 3 | This exercise is short and mainly theoretical. |
Projects
- 3 projects in total, at most 2 project reports can be handed in and graded
- Each graded report will count for 20% of the final grade
- At least one has to be passed to give access to the final exam
- You work in groups of up to 3 students. Each group decides which 2 projects to hand in.
- Send an email to Alessandro with the group members in your group (in English please).
- If you don't have a group, send an email, and you will be assigned to a group.
- Submit the project reports (in PDF format) along with your Python code in a Jupiter notebook in ovsys. Use a zip-file to submit the two files.
- The reports (PDF):
Write as a scientific report. Describe the problem and the methods you are using, write theoretical results as mathematical statements, use (readable!!) plots and tables of errors when appropriate, explain your observations, and if they are expected. Theoretical and numerical results should be consistent.
- Include a statement about which group member did what.
- Max length: 10 pages, text-size 11pt. (You may include appendices, but me may not read them.)
- The code: The Jupyter notebook should run/compile without errors.
