Meeting 18.9.:

  • The students are for the most part satisfied with the course, lectures and exercises. Systematic lectures, good notes.
  • Some consern about high speed during lectures especially in the early weeks, but it seems students appreciate extra details/explainations. The lecturer will work to reduce the speed without sacrificing explainations.
  • Some students find scaling particularly difficult.
  • Q1: Post slides from lectures? Yes, they will be posted before the exam.
  • Q2: What will be lectured next week? See 'Lectures' in left menu.

Meeting 15.10.:

  • The students are for the most part satisfied with the course, the lectureing speed is better now.
  • A statistics student feel the course is difficult compared to other courses this semester.

Meeting 25.11.:

  • Evaluation of whole semester:
    • The students liked the course very much.
    • Lectures were good, very structured, good notes
    • Problems sets were long and that was good (but much longer would not do).
    • Availability of lecturer and assistent as expected. A lot of help to be found amongst other students in 'Matteland'.
    • Webpage was good and informative - above the average. Updated regularly and many students checked it several times every week.
    • The reference group worked out nicely, good cooperation with lecturer. Could and did contact him also outside of the meetings.
  • Evaluation of project:
    • Main consern of many: Hard to know how much each group should do (one problem or all?)
      • Information on this existed on the course webpage, but not on the problem set.
      • Improved information was posted on the webpage after some days and a student initiative, this info seems to have been sufficient.
    • Want: More detailed info on the problem set on how to work.
      • To be taken into account next year!
    • Groups:
      • "4 out 5" registration works well.
      • Write that "it is an advantage to have a member doing numerics"
    • Presentations nice and efficient
      • single PDF with all presentations and 6 min count-down alarm was very usefull.
    • "Not all problems felt equally relevant for the exam"
