17.01.2025 | Sensur er litt forsinket pga. sykdom, men vi håper å bli ferdige relativt raskt. |
26.11.2024 | Here are the combined slides from the last week of lectures in Mathematics 4D, which gives a summary of the topics that are most relevant for the exam. Additionally, here is a list of the most relevant problems to study from recent exams. |
19.11.2024 | In Mathematics 4D we will have revision this week in the lectures. On Wednesday we will cover the numricals methods in the course: Interpolation, Numerical Integration, and Numerical methods for nonlinear equations and ordinary differential equations. On Friday we cover the more theoretical parts: Laplace transform, Fourier series and transform, and the heat equation and wave equation. |
12.11.2024 | In Mathematics 4D we will cover the wave equation in the lectures this week. Suggested reading is Chapter 12 section 1 to 4 in the book. Here you can find a list of some problems from previous exams related to this topic. |
11.11.2024 | There will be held two plenary exercise session with exercises from the fall exam 2023, Thursday 21.11 12.15-14.00 and Tuesday 26.11 10.15-12.00 in F1 (same content in both sessions). If you plan to attend and need the lecture in English, send an email to nanna.berre@ntnu.no latest the day before. This also means there will be no regular exercise class on Thursday 21.11 12.15-14.00. |
11.11.2024 | Exercise set 13 has been published. Only hand-in if you are missing one approved exercise set. |
04.11.2024 | In Mathematics 4D we will cover the heat equation in the lectures this week. Suggested reading is Chapter 12 section 5 to 7 in the book. Here you can find a list of some problems from previous exams related to this topic. |
01.11.2024 | The zoom link for the lecture in Mathematics 4D can be found here. |
30.10.2024 | The zoom link for the lecture in Mathematics 4D can be found here. |
28.10.2024 | In Mathematics 4D we will cover the topic of the Fourier transform in the lectures this week. Suggested reading this week is Chapter 11 section 7 and 9 in the book. There is also a brief note on the Fourier series with complex exponentials here. The lectures this week will not be given in person. A zoom-link will be sent by email and posted here. |
24.10.2024 | Dear 4N students (of Parallel 1), Today’s lecture cannot be given in person. Please, watch the lecture online (recording from Monday, 21.10., Parallel 2): https://ntnu.cloud.panopto.eu/Panopto/Pages/Viewer.aspx?id=264ac057-a20d-4913-b2e8-b20d00897dec |
21.10.2024 | In Mathematics 4D we continue with the topic of Fourier series in the lectures this week. Suggested reading this week is the rest of Chapter 11 section 2 as well as section 3 and 4 in the book. The related problems from previous exams on this topic are the same as last week. |
14.10.2024 | In Mathematics 4D we begin with the topic of Fourier series in the lectures this week. Suggested reading this week is Chapter 11 section 1 and 2 in the book until subsection 2 "Simplifications: Even and Odd Functions" on page 486. A list of problems from previous exams on this topic can be found here. |
07.10.2024 | In Mathematics 4D we continue with the topic of numerical solutions of ordinary differential equations in the lectures this week. Suggested reading this week is the rest of the notes from last week, notes ode, and the following notes on stiff ODEs, notes stiff. The related problems from previous exams are the same as last week. |
04.10.2024 | I received a question regarding the slides mentioned in Exercise Sheet 6, so I’m sharing them here as well preliminaries-bvp. Hopefully, this helps anyone else that is confused to find them before of the deadline. |
30.09.2024 | In Mathematics 4D the lectures will cover numerical solutions of ordinary differential equations this and the following week. Suggested reading this week is the lecture notes from a previous semester up until section 6. A list of problems from previous exams on this topic can be found here. |
27.09.2024 | Since we didn't cover the Laplace Transforms and convolutions in the Lectures in Mathematics 4D here is a brief note to help you with problem 4c) on exercise sheet #6. |
12.09.2024 | Note that you can also have a look at the lecture notes of previous years here. For example, the notes from 2021 can be useful: Learning material 2021 |
21.08.2024 | Note: We do not offer recordings of the lectures. Previous recordings will also not be available. The main reason is the desire for students to be more present on campus. |
13.08.2024 | The exercises start in week 35. |
09.07.2024 | Welcome to the courses "Mathematics 4N" and "Mathematics 4D" in Autumn 2024. Lectures will start in Week 34, exercise classes one week later. |
