Andy Stock draws on geoinformatics and computer science to solve problems in marine ecology. He is currently an Earth Institute Postdoctoral Fellow at Columbia University in New York, using machine learning methods on satellite data to map phytoplankton community composition, and on water-column sonar data to map seafloor methane seeps. He holds a PhD in Environment & Resources from Stanford University in California, a Master of Science in Environmental Sciences from the University of Turku in Finland, and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the University of Leipzig in Germany.
