Working at IMF

Please note that the main communication channel of both NTNU, IE (the faculty) and IMF is Innsida. Information specific to IMF can be found at the Department internal pages. (See Contact the IT department below on how to get your username/password.)

See also this official website and this checklist.

The information below pertains to both PhD students, postdocs and professors, unless otherwise specified.

Your first few days

There are a number of things you should do during your first few days at the Department.

  • The IT department
The IT department will provide you with your username/password and a computer. With your username/password you can right away access campus computers, your email, the Department internal pages, and more. You can only access Innsida and Pagaweb once your fødselsnummer has been registered with NTNU.
  • Home page
Your official home page will be See Innsida for help on how to edit this page.
  • Photograph
If you need a new photograph for your home page or for a visa application, the Faculty organizes a monthly photo session. A message will appear in the Fakultet for informasjonsteknologi, matematikk og elektroteknikk message feed on Innsida about one week in advance. This service is free of charge for all employees.
  • Lunch
Many PhD students/postdocs and professors have lunch around 12–12:15 in the lunch room on the 13th floor. Here you can also grab a (free) coffee. There are also several cafeterias around campus that serve warm meals.
  • Wednesday meetings
The weekly Department meeting is on Wednesdays at 12:15 in the lunch room on the 13th floor. Both temporary and permanent staff are invited to participate. The meetings usually last about 20-30 minutes.
  • Reserving rooms
The Department's lecture rooms can be reserved here. The guest offices on the 6th floor can be reserved here. Reservations for all other rooms at NTNU are done here.
  • The library
Math books are mostly located at Teknologibiblioteket. You can search for and order books from the national university library collection Ordered books are delivered to your post shelf on the 7th floor after a couple of days. Books can be returned at any university library; the closest one is the Architecture and Civil Engineering Library.
  • If you are in need of computer glasses, then the department will finance this.
