The location

The workshop will be held at Ilsetra hotel at Hafjell, Norway. It is situated 950 metres above sea level in Hafjell Ski Resort, an excellent location for mountain, cross country, and downhill skiing. The hotel also has an outdoor pool.

The location of the hotel in relation to the general Hafjell resort can be seen here by clicking Points of Interests → Accommodation and observing the hotel in the upper right hand corner of the map. Note that there is a ski rental facility close by. There is no ski pass for the downhill slopes included in the stay.

How to get there

The easiest way to get to Ilsetra is to take the train from Oslo airport to Lillehammer, bus from Lillehammer to Hafjell alpinsenter, and taxi from Hafjell alpinsenter to Ilsetra Hotel.

  • Train tickets and schedules are found at NSB. The train takes approximately 1 h 50 min from Oslo Airport to Lillehammer. The last train with a corresponding bus leaves the airport at 18:59.
  • The bus (route no. 242) departs from Lillehammer skysstasjon (the same as the train station) at 16:15, 16:45, 17:20, 18:15, 19:15, and 21:15, as listed here, and uses circa 20 minutes to Hafjell alpinsenter.
  • On Sunday, the bus departs from Hafjell alpinsenter at 10:18, 11:18, 12:18, and 14:18, making it possible to correspond with trains leaving Lillehammer at 11:11, 12:12, 12:53 and 15:12, respectively. These trains arrive at Oslo airport at 13:01, 14:01, 14:32 and 17:01, respectively.
  • It should be possible to take a taxi directly from Lillehammer to Ilsetra and vice versa, although taking the bus is probably the cheapest option.
