Welcome to the Ring theory course!

  • We agreed that the classes on Tuesdays will start at 08:30, and not at 08:15. We will instead work continuously until 10:00, without a break at 09:00-09:15.
  • Exceptionally, the first two lectures wil be on Wednesday 15th January at 16:15-18:00 in R41 and Thursday 16th January at 14:15-16:00 in Kjelhuset - KJL21

  • Tuesdays 08.15-10.00 in room R41 in Realfagsbygget.

The first meeting is Monday, January 13th, and the last meeting is Tuesday, 29th April.

Lecturer

Course plan

We will use a flipped classroom for this course. This means that you will watch videos outside of class (produced by Øyving Solberg) and during class we will solve exercises together. I also plan to give you the opportunity to present your solutions during class. This will be a good preparation for the exam, which is oral.

In order for this approach to be successfu you are expected to do the following:

  • Come to class and participate actively. Please inform me by email if you are not able to come.
  • Watch and try to understand the videos before class.

There will be an oral exam.
