Faglig innhold
I emnet vil en arbeide med å identifisere hva som karakteriserer matematikkunnskap for lærere og å utvikle kunnskap om epistemologiske modeller for matematisk kunnskap i skolen. Dette innebærer blant annet arbeid med semiotiske representasjoner og deres betydning for matematisk kunnskapsutvikling. En vil diskutere ulike former for kunnskap og forståelse og spesielt se på argumentasjon og bevis som grunnleggende for utvikling av matematisk kunnskap. Eksemplifisering vil spesielt skje gjennom utvalgte tema fra klassisk geometri og algebra. Klasseromsobservasjoner fra matematikkundervisning vil bli brukt som utgangspunkt for utvikling av epistemologisk kunnskap for matematikklærere, der særegenheten til den matematiske målkunnskapen vil være i fokus.

- har inngående kunnskap om betydningen av semiotiske representasjoner for begrepslæring i matematikk
- har inngående kunnskap om argumentasjon og bevis som grunnlag for utvikling og organisering av matematisk kunnskap

- kan tilrettelegge og analysere arbeid i matematikklasserommet med utgangspunkt i modeller for matematikkunnskap for lærere
- kan gjennomføre en epistemologisk analyse av et matematikkfaglig tema som bakgrunn for å gjennomføre undervisning innenfor dette temaet
- kan analysere matematikkfaglige tekster og samtaler med tanke på en karakterisering av strukturer for argumentasjon og bevis som forekommer i tekstene eller samtalene
