Accessing the computer system from outside
Use the information on this page if you're using a laptop, your home computer or similar, and want to
- use the terminal/shell as from the office
- opening a Windows Terminal
- accessing files
Webmail
To check your email online, go to http://www.math.ntnu.no/webmail/.
In order to configure your email client, please see Configuring your email client.
Shell access
Open a terminal (for instance through Lauchpad → Utilities → Terminal), and type
ssh login.math.ntnu.no
You will be asked for your username and password. You you are asked to confirm that you want to connect, type “yes” and hit Enter.
Windows Terminal/Remote desktop
MacOS X does not include software to connect to show the desktop of a Windows terminal server. If you wish, you may download and install Remote Desktop Connection Client by Microsoft.
Use either of the following servers:
- heine.math.ntnu.no
- borel.math.ntnu.no
Accessing files
(With VPN) Enable the VPN connection, and connect to this server
smb://mamba.math.ntnu.no/<username>
To connect, open Finder, open the Go menu, and click Connect to server. Fill inn the address above, and click Connect. If you want to save it for later, click the + button to add it to the list. Remember to change <username> to your own username.
