Uncertainty in Reservoir Evaluation (URE)

Vision

Objectives

Identify, develop and evaluate mathematically and physically based models for assessment of uncertainties in reservoir evaluation, and distribute information and provide training about these models through education, publishing and seminars.

The activity in the programme is inspired by the problem complexes:

Rimstad, K., Avseth, P. and Omre, H. (2012), Hierarchical Bayesian lithology/fluid prediction: A North Sea case study, Geophysics, 77, B69-B85.

Prediction of gas and oil. Within the red and green volumes the probabilities are above 0.5 for sand with gas or sand with oil, respectively. The results in (a) and (b) are for a model with and without rock physics depth trends, respectively. Click on the above image to see a movie that shows the results from different angles.
